William Clevenger Crabb The genealogy contained in this portion of my family history was originally compiled by Mr. Arlie W. Crabbe during the years 1969, 1970 and 1971. It was completed in August, 1971. He had titled it "Crabbe Family Record and History - From November 1808 to July 1971". Mr. Crabbe noted that at about the turn of the 20th century, many families began adding an "e" to the name of Crabb; therefore, this history will not be entirely accurate in all cases regarding the spellng of that surname.
A copy of Mr. Crabbe's history was given to this writer on July 7, 1981 by Mrs. Alfred Bossarte (Thessel Alberta Thorne). It also contains several copies of pictures of many of the ancestors.
Information from an old family bible furnished the first names and dates of death of William's first two wives. Their burial places are unknown at this time; however, they were probably buried in Madison or Pickaway counties in Ohio since he lived in that area all his life. William is buried at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Ohio. Sarah, his third wife, is buried in Gillham Cemetery, near Jacksonville, Illinois.
William and his second wife, Ann, were parents of only one child, Ann, born June 7, 1849 and died November 9, 1921. She married a Mr. Foster in Madison Co., Ohio and is buried in the Sedalia, Ohio cemetery. No further data available. He appeared on the census of 12 Sep 1850 at Darby, Pickaway Co, USA; aged 40.
