Bernice Patterson BALTIMORE, Md. - Bernice P. Patterson, 86, formerly of Cooperstown, N.Y.,died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Oak Crest Retirement Community inBaltimore, Md. She was born June 30, 1914, in Walton, N.Y., a daughter of Ernest andMarie (Armstrong) Perry. She married T. Fulton Patterson on June 30, 1933, in Walton. Fultonpassed away on Feb. 4, 1995. Bernice graduated from Walton High School Class of 1931, Walton TrainingClass of 1932 and Oneonta State in 1962. She taught in rural schools near Walton for three years and resumed herteaching career in Hartwick Grade School in 1951, until her retirement in1969. Bernice was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cooperstown, theNYS Retired Teachers Association and Otsego Chapter of the DAR and aformer member of the Cherry Valley O.E.S., Cooperstown Women's Club,Westville Grange and Leatherstocking Women's Golf Association. She servedactively with the Bassett Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers until moving toBaltimore in 1996. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Judith and David Merow ofBel Air, Md; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas and Gretchen Pattersonof Washington, Pa; four granddaughters, Patricia A. Saunders andAnnemarie Merow, both of Baltimore, Pamela Patterson-Comfort of Ramona,Calif., and Kimberly Patterson of Washington, Pa; and twogreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews andcousins. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, atthe First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, with the Rev. Steve Quinlanof the First Presbyterian Church in Cooperstown, officiating. There will be no visitation hours.
